HP 12C Platinum Calculator App Reviews

48 add

I would give it a 5 except for two things

First and most serious -- -4 squared is not -16, it should be +16 -- this is not consistent with the way the 12c works. Highly annoying is the loud, unregulatable key click -- it does not respond to the app volume. It makes it unusable in meetings, sadly to say. Availability when I do not carry one of my 12c calcualtors was a big reason why I purchased this app. Less annoying but an irritant none the less is the inability to lock it in landscape mode. It just means a longer wait since it always starts in portrait mode (why I cannot imagine) and then has to figure out that it needs to change. Since HP has not updated this since 2009 and we do not know if they are even reading these coments, I have little hope that any of these items will be fixed.

Disappointed

The calculator works great, but the resolution is awful. Its as if it was developed for the lower resolution iPhone 3G and never updated for the higher resolution iPhone 4. HP desperately needs to update this app.

Fake! What a fake HP

It doesnt calculate FP or PV correctly By comparing with other versions it is a chame. I want my money back.

HP 12c. Very satisfied

I just downloaded the app and it works fine. I was able to lower the volume on the keys. It flipped to horizontal quickly. It has nice new features like Undo if you clear a number by mistake. It has back space so you can correct a number. It also has a built in quick start manual for new users or if you forget how to input something. Its really great to have an HP in your pocket. Very satisfied.

Okay

Nothing spectacular, I would agree that the resolution should be better. -4 squared is not -16, so a few bugs. Financial calculations appear to work. A little pricey and should be updated.

Annoying key clicks

Like some other reviewers, I bought this app as a backup to my real 12c. I havent used it long enough to discover the bugs mentioned in other posts. However, I can definitely confirm the loud key click that isnt user configurable. Not the end of the world, but certainly annoying--especially in a meeting.

No Retina Display

Looks ugly, much worse than the picture. HP is falling.

Sound too loud

the sound when you hit the keys is too loud. pls rovide option to turn it off. If that option were available rating would be a 4.

President

I purchased this financial calculator thinking that I was getting what was advertised. I did not get the regular 12C that I am accustomed to using. What happened?

iPad Compatibility

App is not iPad compatible.

Upgrade for iPhone 5

HP needs to upgrade this for iPhone 5 (and for any other bigger screen phones)!! This App is still made for smaller screens. HP needs to fix the App so it can fit bigger screens.

Worse than 12c Gold

The fact that the users who paid more expensive for 12c Platinum stopped getting updates and support because HP decided to focus on 12c Gold is outrageous. I want my money back or free access to the regular 12c version!

No iPhone 5 support

This App has NO support from HP. No update for iPhone 5 display! For the price I payed for the branded App I would expect HP to keep this App up to date. Hope HP will read my review!

ANNOYING Clicking Sound

There is an ANNOYING clicking sound every time a key is touched. Usually there is a way to turn off the clicking sound through the program. It is not user friendly to have to turn off the entire sound of the iPhone device just to stop the annoying clicking sound. VERY IRRITATING. I would not recommend this product until they fix the sound issues. I hate the clicking sound. I love the HP12C handheld calculator that I have. I HATE the iPhone HP 12C.

No updates

What about update this App to retina and 4 inch display!? For 14,99 dollars it would have more support. Disappointed.

Embarrassing! Calculation errors!?

Hewlett Packard has a loyal following and a reputation for highest quality - and for correcting problems when they arise. (Early HP scientific calculators actually were recalled and replaced when a tiny bug was discovered.) But a business calculator that makes elementary-school math errors (e.g., in squaring a negative number) is unforgiveable! The calculator on which this app is based goes back to 1981, and among financial wizards both old and young, it is still the gold (well, platinum) standard! This iPhone version appears to have been introduced in 2009, which should have allowed HP plenty of time to get it working credibly under OS 3.1 or later.

Not compatible with iPhone 5

I bought and when I opened I saw the app is smaller than from screen off iPhone 5. Its not good to work and the resolution is bad.

Disappointed there is no update

Bad job, HP.

Does not work well on iOS 8

It does not work correctly on iOS 8. If you hit the menu key, the app gets frozen. What a shame for such an expensive app!! Will you fix that, please???

Rip off

How deceiving! The functions shown in the buy app screen are not even on the calculator!!! What a waste.
